Leading Email Association Broadens Industry Focus
ESPC Announces Name Change and Welcomes 22 New Members in 2005
YORK, ME—December 5, 2005—Today, the Email Service Provider Coalition (ESPC) announced that it is changing its name to the Email Sender and Provider Coalition in order to better reflect the broadening scope of its member base. In 2005, the ESPC acquired 22 new members, many of whom represent a variety of services within the email marketing spectrum, not only Email Service Providers (ESPs). The name change supports the ESPC's commitment to servicing the entire email industry and goes into effect today on the ESPC Web site.
"We've always aimed to be a positive force in the email industry as a whole and we're glad that a broader range of companies are seeing the value of ESPC membership," said Trevor Hughes, executive director of the ESPC. "There is still work to be done in the fight against fraudulent email practices. By working together, we present a unified voice and with input from all facets of the industry, we can develop more comprehensive, workable solutions to the problems that challenge us all."
The ESPC membership now comprises 75 companies and continues to be the only trade association that focuses exclusively on the email industry. The expanded membership under its new moniker includes email senders, ESPs, email receivers (such as ISPs), message transfer agents (MTAs), reputation service providers (RSPs) and other vendor companies and organizations who enjoy equal representation in the name of the coalition.
"We're pleased to see the ESPC adopt a mission and name that's more broadly inclusive," said Dave Lewis, vice president of market development at StrongMail Systems. "To truly affect change, all members of the email sending community -- technology providers, such as us, along with senders, ESPs and other providers -- must join together. The ESPC provides a unique and effective forum for this kind of collaboration, and we greatly value our membership."
As of 2005, the ESPC has gained 22 new members from across the email ecosystem. To view the full member list, please visit http://www.espcoalition.org/members.php.
